Well… This is news that we didn’t expect but we’re 100% fully behind this choice. The Red Hot Chili Peppers of California are confirmed to headline Reading & Leeds 2016 as of this morning (4th December). Other acts include The 1975, Courteneers, Twenty One Pilots and Boy Better Know.
Festival Organiser Melvin Benn said:
“I’m thrilled to be able to announce Red Hot Chili Peppers as the first headliner for Reading & Leeds 2016, as a festival exclusive. Their incredible live show will be an unforgettable headline performance at the UK’s biggest music festival. We’ve still got some really exciting names to announce and I can’t wait to reveal the rest of the line up. It’s going to be our best year yet.”
With a studio album in production, rumoured to be released in May or June next year, this seems like the perfect opportunity to coincide with its launch.
With frontman Anthony Kiedis’ performance and the band’s renowned reputation for an interesting set, this is a performance we’ll definitely be attending, best get your tickets.
